I’ve spent 10 years working with hundreds of different hosting companies. Which one(s) are the best?
DreamHost receives an average online review of about 4 out of 5 stars, making it one of the highest rated Web hosts out there. There’s a lot to like about DreamHost. Let’s highlight some of its strong points:
- Very reliable uptime
- Above average page loading time
- 24/7 technical support (no phone support, though)
- A generous 97 day money-back guarantee for shared hosting plans
- Unlimited bandwidth
- Uptime guarantee — they will credit you when uptime does not meet their high standards
Being reliable, fast, and having some nice guarantees, it’s easy to see why DreamHost receives such high ratings. However, you get what you pay for; DreamHost is certainly one of the more expensive Web hosts options out there. For example, the cheapest shared hosting plan is $7.95/month, and that’s only if you get the 3 year plan.
Another thing that should be noted is that DreamHost does not use cPanel. Therefore, anyone who has grown accustomed to cPanel may have a bit of a learning curve when starting out on DreamHost. It is because of this that DreamHost has been recommended for experienced website managers, but may prove intimidating to people just starting out.
If you’re not on a budget, we’d certainly recommend DreamHost. Their reliability is top-notch, and their guarantees mean you won’t have to pay for anything but the high performance that people have come to expect from them.
