Like any other Web hosting company out there, Media Temple has had its fair share of issues. One of the most common complaints is in regards to its customer support, specifically lengthy response times or non-helpful support. Here is an example of a particularly poor review:
“Out of 16 chat requests and 4 open support tickets, I have NEVER been truly helped by Media Temple support. My latest request was regarding a 500 internal server error on my sitemap_index.xml page generated by the WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin, a plugin they RECOMMEND. They told me to do the usual (i.e. disable plugins, switch themes, etc.). I informed them that I’m a WordPress developer and doing this was one of the first things I tried. Then, they gave me a link to OTHER (external, non Media Temple) resources! What I find really funny is that they sent me to this page on a similar 500 error using the WordPress SEO plugin.”
Since Media Temple’s plans are quite expensive, people expect top-notch support, which many feel they do not receive from Media Temple. Furthermore, in the past, they have had security issues, with some of their sites being compromised. Again, no Web host is perfect, so it’s just a good idea to be aware of potential or reoccurring issues before choosing a plan.
